Souper Bowl of Caring
Each year Souper Bowl of Caring raises money to benefit local agencies in the fight against hunger. Our local recipient of the funds gathered from SGPC is Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS). Following church services members of our youth group hold large soup pots in which they collect funds. This financial support makes a difference right here in our community in feeding those who are hungry. So in all the excitement of the Super Bowl, please remember Souper Bowl of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday!!
Each Easter in addition to our normal offering, we will receive a special offering to benefit the Thornwell Home for Children. This organization helps children who have been abused, abandoned and/or neglected and ministers to their broken hearts.
Mothers Day Offering for Presbyterian Communities
This special offering benefits the residents of the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina. Many of the residents survive on a fixed monthly income and these offerings help ease the burdens that these residents face in long term care.
Father's Day Offering for Migrant Ministry
This special offering taken each Father's Day directly benefits the Migrant Ministry program that's housed here at Saxe Gotha. From these funds, along with contributions from other partner churches, the annual summer Migrant Ministry missions effort is supported as we reach out and minister to these men and women during the summer season.
Change for Sudan
Throughout the year, our children (and adults!) set aside pocket change and bills to support the many aspects of ministry in Sudan. Periodically we collect this money and your support goes a long way in assisting the people of Sudan. So label a jar and start making a difference a world away! Know that you can also make larger donations to this ministry via check or cash, but please be sure to let us know it's for Sudan ministries.
Christmas Eve Offering
Each Christmas Eve we will collect for two different ministries. The first will support outdoor ministries of the Trinity Presbytery, which means that it provides support for the Fellowship Camp & Conference Center on Lake Greenwood. This center offers a wonderful location for retreats, such as the one our middle school confirmation class takes each year, and for families and church groups throughout the year. The second part of this offering will support Presbyterian College.
Note: When making a donation via check for any of the offerings listed above, please make checks made payable to SGPC with a note in the memo line stating purpose of donation (e.g., Change for Sudan ministry).
